About this event
Ceri Rhys Matthews is a folk musician of sorts. He plays traditional and newly created dance melodies and song airs from south and west Wales. He plays the wooden concert flute and has produced over 25 CDs for fflach:tradd records, Smithsonian Folkways, World Music Network, and independent musicians and labels. He plays music with Christine Cooper, Carreg Bica and the band he founded in 1995, fernhill.
FFRWD is a Welsh avant-garde performer who fuses power electronics and found sound through splicing, dicing and heavy processing.
The live set has elements of musique concrète, raw sound creation and spoken word together with a high degree of improvisation, where acoustic, electric and freeform atonal sounds evolve throughout the intense performance to create dark atmospheres.
FFRWD has performed at various locations across the UK and in 2018, a sound installation based on vintage sermons was exhibited at the National Eisteddfod.
